Angela and Christoph created the Sunora for people who love skiing, winter, and Mount Arlberg.
Here, the name reflects both our philosophy and our promise. “Sunora” brings together sun and ora, the hour. And that is exactly what we want for you: sun-filled hours on Mount Arlberg, time in the light, and moments on winter’s brightest side. That is precisely the hotel’s location, on the sunny side, where the light lingers longer and everything takes on a golden glow.
First a Walser house,
then the Sunora
This house wears its history with pride. Built in 1780, it was first a traditional Walser house. Then, from the 1960s onwards, it became the Schranz guesthouse, welcoming generations of visitors. The old wood panelling still speaks of that time, while the historic details recall the building’s roots. Angela and Christoph have taken the house’s tradition and led it into a new era. The Sunora honours the past while shaping the future.
The people behind the hotel
Christoph has lived and breathed these mountains all his life. He knows every slope, every special moment on the piste, and every insider tip for the finest descent. As a certified sommelier, he chooses the hotel’s wines himself and tastes them with guests at 1,500 metres above sea level, where wine seems to show itself from a different side: more intense, more expressive, and more surprising.
Angela brings an international ease that makes you feel at home straight away. She understands that genuine hospitality can be direct, warm, and full of charm.
Together, they follow a clear philosophy: they offer what they themselves love. A ski-in, ski-out location, because mornings on the mountain should begin without delay. Breakfast with produce from Vorarlberg, because good food is the best start. Homemade cake in the afternoon, based on traditional recipes, because tradition adds soul. And the freedom to discover Lech’s restaurants in the evening, because a holiday should always leave room for choice.
